Behind every skyline there are neighborhoods, relationships, people, and stories …

A devastating fire wakes up the Yadas to a new reality: God is on the move.
As the Yada Yada Prayer Group hurtles toward the second anniversary of the day they met, little do they know it will be a year of losses and new beginnings. MaDear’s failing health stirs the need for deeper healing between Adele and Denny. The props Amanda has been leaning on—Willie Wonka, her lifelong pet, and José Enriques, her teenage love—get knocked out from under her. A major fire at a women’s shelter nearly destroys the idealistic intentions of its young volunteers. And Avis faces yet another crushing blow concerning her precious daughter, who just got untangled from an abusive marriage.
And yet … God is prodding them on. As Denny tells his daughter, “Sometimes God knocks the props out from under us to help us grow up. Life goes on. We have to keep rolling.” In myriad ways, all the Yada Yadas—including Yo-Yo, who’s sulking because the Garfield twins have nudged her out of the Garfield nest—are learning that we have to let go of the past in order to move forward into the future.
And what a future! The merger of Uptown Community and New Morning Christian Church discovers a new name and a new identity. Chanda discovers there’s more to money than spending it on herself. Denny discovers God is at work, even in Chicago’s juvenile detention center. Ruth and Ben experience yet another “birth” in the family—the kind that causes angels to party their angel socks off. And when Jodi stops holding on to the familiar and starts “thinking about the possibilities,” she finds herself directing a dramatic play with a most unusual cast.
And of course, God is also full of delightful surprises—like the diamond ring that shows up at the Yada Yada second anniversary fiesta …
